Two days of healthy eating classes and getting to know SA...

We had an early start on Wednesday to be up and ready at the school as the Leeds volunteers had healthy eating classes first thing with Grade R, at First Step Right School. Laura, who works at the university and is leading the group, took the first class as an example for the students. She has done a lot of teaching before, and was able to give them lots of top tips on delivering nutrition classes to different aged children.

The volunteers will be posting a blog piece later in the trip and telling you more about their experiences and what they've been up to.

Me and Laura headed off to 1000 Hills to see everyone there and also get some plans together for the following week.

(Dawn was recently awarded with a Living Legends award and this piece tells us a little more about her)

My day finished with a meeting with Waldo from Freys - the business who owns the land and school building, at First Step Right. We had lots to discuss with regards to the new fence at the school, plus other issues. We're trying to develop a relationship with them to ensure the school can continue to improve and develop. We hope we can continue to partner with them, for the benefit of the children and the community.

We headed back to Phe Zulu and me, Laura and Esther had an evening run (up the huge hill at the lodge), followed by dinner, emails and relaxing.

We are having problems accessing GAGA emails and so if you do need to get in touch with Sarah, please contact her on sarahlhodgson01@gmail.com

On Thursday the Leeds girls continued their healthy eating classes, making sure they visited each class to talk about eating well. They started off the days with dance classes which the children absolutely loved!

They also over lunch time, spoke to the teachers about healthy eating, at their request, and also did some abs exercises which they'd asked for.

I had a couple of jobs to do - taking Gael to the local police station to get an affidavit for the schools end of year audit, plus visiting No. 9 School down in Kwa Ximba valley which some of our lovely supporters have assisted at over the years.

A lovely sunny day finished off with a lovely sunset.

As mentioned yesterday, we're struggling to access emails and so please contact Sarah on sarahlhodgson01@gmail.com
